Welcome to Polar Dessert Bar, where we are excited to share our passion for delicious treats with you. As long-time locals of Mount Maunganui, we both spent six years in Wellington—Steffi in the public sector and Michael with the Wellington Phoenix Football Club—before deciding it was time to return home and start something of our own.

In October 2023, we took over Polar Dessert Bar from its wonderful previous owners, Ian and Pam, who built a beloved community staple. Today, we continue their legacy while infusing our own enthusiasm and vision into the shop.

Our mission is simple: to create a delightful and unforgettable experience for each of our customers. We offer a range of premium New Zealand ice cream, delectable desserts, and our signature handcrafted rolled ice cream. Our bubble waffles and hand-rolled cold plate ice cream have quickly become fan favorites!

We believe in giving back to our community and are proud supporters of the Omanu Surf Lifesaving Club’s Little Nippers program.
